How do I change the free text response box from a single line to a paragraph?

I am wanting to change the free text response from a single line that respondents can not see what they have already written to a paragraph format where the text is displayed in 'chunked' blocks, and you can see what has been entered without having to scroll back.Thanks

How to get previous questions answers in the end of the block

I have four questions in the same block. After people answer the forth question, I want to add a javascript to examine whether they answer these four questions all correctly. How can I get the previous questions answers? Since these four questions are in the same block, embedded data does not work. And I cannot use scoring because I need some javascript to automatically go back to the previous block if the answers are wrong, score and survey flow cannot infinitely repeat this process.

How to create a drop down with different dates, in which today’s date is automatically pre-selected.

Hello :) I created a drop down with the dates for one week e. g. 01. 06, 02. 06, 03. 06. Participants should choose a date (to indicate on which day they attended an event).How is it possible to pre-define an answer here? I want today (the day on which the respondent participates in the survey) to be automatically highlighted. For example, if the participant participates in the survey on 02. 06, the 02. 06 should be suggested/selected in the drop down.

Maintaining anonymity whilst being able to identify a participant if necessary

I am using Qualtrics to create a questionnaire to be filled out by students about mental health. To promote honestly we want to keep the survey as anonymous as possible, but for safeguarding reasons I need to be able to identify a particular student if any of their answers cause me concern. Is there a function that can facilitate this on Quatrics? I have wondered whether this could be done by generating a participant ID at the start of the survey, but I would then need to ensure the student notes their ID down!? I also have seen the possibility of sending an automatic email when a student gives a specific answer but again, even if I receive a trigger email flagging up when a specific answer is given, I need some way of identifying who it was that gave that answer. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What are the rules behind sentiment coding in TextiQ?

I'm just starting to dabble in TextiQ and am interested in understanding the basic 'rules' behind how the tool determines the sentiment score. While I'm sure there is much complexity, are there basic rules, such as a negative word like 'no' or 'not' within X words of a key word would lead to a negative sentiment score. I could not find anything that provides this type of information.

Can I determine if someone used the retake link vs regular link somehow?

I would like to be able to tell if someone used the retake link to submit the survey, this way in the notification that is sent to the person processing the results I can note in the email that this is not the persons first response to the survey. Is there a way to grab the link used to complete the survey through embedded data and just search for the Q_R reference in the link to determine this?

Is there a way to use a logic command in a side-by-side matrix for a combined answer for 2 columns?

Hello dear Qualtrics community,I put a side-by-side matrix with two columns in my survey in order to be able to (primarily visually) separate a 4-point Likert scale from the additional option "Unable to assess relevance". I want participants to EITHER choose one of the four Likert scale responses OR the "unable to assess relevance" option, but somehow I don't find a possibility to link these answers by a logic command and cannot use the exclusive option, since this is not a text entry format and I basically have two side-by-side questions in this matrix table. My options so far: I've decided to set the "unable to assess relevance" answer option to Multiple Choice and the Likert scale to Single Choice, but this means that one can still answer both questions/push two answer buttons. If I use Multiple Choice in both columns one can push every button and potentially give 5 answers instead. Please has someone an idea how to solve my problem? I'm also thinking about merging the two columns

Embedding logic for Piped Text

Hi! I know that what I am trying to accomplish should be straightforward but I can't seem to think about how to make it so. I have a survey where in one question we are asking attributes of the respondent's children (e.g., name, age, etc.). We want to then take the name of the youngest child and pipe that in to a series of questions about that child's activities. I can think through some branching that should be able to do this but it seems too complicated to have to create parallel sets of questions just to accomplish this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sending one reminder to multiple (i.e. daily) email distributions

As the title says, is there a method or process in Qualtrics that would allow me to select multiple distributions listed in the Email section of the Distributions tab? A collaborator does daily sendouts to different contact lists, but we are in charge of scheduling reminders, and we want to reduce our workload to just sending a reminder once a week.

A few coding questions

Hello, If anyone could help me with the questions below I would very much appreciate it! Thanks!1. I’m not sure how to do alternating white and grey for the matrix questions - I have three “look and feel” options and none of these allow for that 2. I can still enter many numbers for "sum to total" questions - can’t figure out how to limit the number of digits you can enter. I have the range limited in the code version. 3. I can’t figure out how to make the text box only pop up if “other” is selected. I thought I had the correct display logic but it doesn’t seem to work every time I try it in preview.

How to count amount of questions filled in during a timed questionnaire

I have 45 mathematical problems in my block and set a timer for 90 seconds to see how much they can correctly fill in, I found how to generate the number of successful answers but not the amount of filled in questions. can anybody help me?

Drop down menus that depend on each other

Hello, everyone.with a question in my questionnaire I want to query the brand and model of a vehicle.First, a brand should be selected in a normal drop-down menu. Based on this selection, models belonging to this brand are then proposed in a further drop down.There will be a total of about 13 brands and about 10 models.How can I use a filter/or something else to cleverly solve that the second dropdown shows only models that fit the brand I selected before, without defining a filter for each model individually?I’m grateful for help. Pick/Group/Rank not providing separate group data for individual option

I'm using a pick/group/rank question to ask participants to categorize the options into 2 groups, but when I export the data, I'm not getting the usual grouping data for each individual options (whether each option was in group 1 or group 2). Instead, the dataset is showing a column by groups with the options that were dragged into the group listed in the cell. Why is this happening? Anything I'm potentially doing wrong?

Display Logic by date and time

Hello all. I have a registration form for multiple workshops. The sign-up for each workshop will close by a certain time and date, so I set up embedded data for the current date (format: MM/DD/YYYY, but no zeros are needed for single digit dates/months) and current time (format: XX:XX AM/PM). After that, I tried to use display date to set when it should display the workshop option. I tried a variety of ways and I am still missing something. Here's where I ended up, but it's not working right. In this example, I am trying to set the sign up time to be available from 4/6/2021 to 4/9/2021, but no longer available at 11:00 AM on 4/9/2021. Any ideas how I can make this work?The start and end date isn't as important as me trying to get the option to no longer be displayed by a certain time and date. Sharing this if that makes it easier to setup the display logic.Thanks in advance!

Randomising timed blocked questions

Hello everyone,I am currently building an experiment for uni using qualtrics.Currently each question has 3 blocked timed sections a 30 second timed picturea 10 second timed white screena 30 second time response questions. we have a total of 30 pictures sets (15 for a control group and 15 for the experimental group)What we want to know is there a way to have qualtrics first randomise our participants to one of two groups with the corresponding set of 15 picturesa picture set has 3 block sections that are timed (30 sec - picture, 10 second screen, and 30 sec question)

Embedding Survey Valid Dates into Email Message

I’d like to pipe the survey expiration date and time into the email message I’m sending to respondents (a standard way to avoid mismatches). I’ve looked through the available piped Date / Time possibilities, but it’s not an option that I can see, it’s just an exhaustive list of fixed dates.This seems like it would be a commonly used feature; am I missing something?— Andy

Exclude Matching Questions?

Hello all,I am trying to design an experiment on Qualtrics. In the first half, I am presenting participants with 2 stories from a list of 8, so I have used a randomization logic. In the second half, I am presenting participants with another set of 2 stories, from another list of 8 stories that correspond to the first list but with slightly different features. However, I do not want participants to view the corresponding story to the first half in the second half. For example, if participants read a story about Bob from the 8 possible stories in the first half, I do not want participants to read about another story relating to Bob from the second list.That being said, how do I exclude certain questions from the randomization list once they show up in the survey?I have tried using a display logic, but that simply does not display the question, and so my participants would only get 1 story in the second half if one of the stories corresponded with a story from the first half. Exclude cell in loop and merge

I have an experiment in which I implemented a loop and merge selecting 105 random videos out of 1045total videos. The randomization is not equal, so I want to exclude some videos without making the data unusable. Any ideas on how to exclude a cell without changing the places within the field of loop and merge?
