Custom Code

Hi, I've made a lot of custom code using javascript across many questions in my Qualtrics survey. Each of the questions uses the same variable and since the variable is an extremely long list of names and for the sake of neatness I want to make a global variable such that custom code in each question will call upon this variable without having to input into each questions custom code section. These questions cannot be combined to a set of multiple form fields. They must all have separate question IDs. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I have tried replacing "radio" with all types of things including "slider" of course, but it does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am looking to validate using a row totals for each column in a side by side question. Each column total is different e.g. Column 1 total must be less than or equal to 240 and Column 2 total must be less than or equal to 300. This repeats for Columns 3 (240) and 4 (300) -- see graphic. ! I want the respondents to be shown that the total in the Columns are correct (green) or wrong (red) e.g. If in Column 1 the total number of minutes of each location is above 240-minutes the total will flag red. I am a novice with Javascript. Thanks.

Is it possible to put hard returns in hover text? I tried <br> but it just shows up as <br>.

I was wondering if there is a way to obtain user-input data (from different response questions) and run JavaScript on it? I also need to save the data obtained from JS in Qualtrics for data analysis. Is this manipulation possible?

I'm a novice at Javascript so I'll do my best to explain my problem - apologies if there are errors: I am applying some custom javascript to an individual question, below, which is also part of a loop and merge function: ! The code links to code in the Look and Feel and uses the Awesomplete library to create an autocomplete function, so that survey respondents can type the names of colleagues and the names autocomplete according to a list of employees in the respondent's organization. The code works when I preview the individual question, or when I preview the entire survey and the question is not part of the loop and merge function. However, when I preview or launch the entire survey with the loop and merge function included, the autocomplete function doesn't work. My assumption is that Qualtrics is somehow running the loop and merge when the page loads but not my custom script. Does

We are using a side-by-side matrix. If a respondent answers that they never use something in the first drop-down, how can we automatically populate the second with "I don't do this"? ! I've been told it is possible with custom Javascript, however I'm not proficient enough to code it. Any assistance with the coding would be a huge help!

Hello everyone, I would like to change the mouseover color. At the moment, the default color for mouseover is grey (see screenshot attached). I would like to change this color for all answers to this one here: #b6f7dc I hope someone can help me with this. !

Can someone help me understand how to change the sizing of the drag and drop boxes. I am going to use the stacking option for both the choices and once they are dragged over to the box. Therefore, the boxes don't need to be so large. This will also improve it's usage on the iphone since the current format isn't working properly when you need to drag below the current screen area. (I have already notified engineering) I am not a coder, but I usually can find my way around the java script area. Thank you

Hello there, I am developing a questionnaire in which participants are presented 40 different behaviours that they have to rate using sliders (-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3). These 40 behaviours are randomized. Now, with each question I want the slider to be pre-set at the value of what the participant answered for the previous question (first slider will obviously be set at 0). Does someone know how to do this? I know how to pre-set the slider but only when you already determine the order of the questions (the 40 behaviours). Thanks!

Hello! So, I want for respondents to choose up to 2 choices of a list of 15. For each of these choices, I want to have a question of how much they like it. Such as: 1. Choose 2 below: * 1 * 2 * 3 * ... * 15 3. How much do you like __(piped choice, the first chosen in descending order or something)_____? 4. (IF 2 are chosen) How much do you like __(piped second choice, the second chosen in descending order or something)___? Could anyone help? Thanks!

I am trying to set a slider starting value (which is also a default response) using a previous slider response. What I have been trying to do is set an embed variable and then use JS to get it into the question. So say I set the embed variable "value1A" as a participants' response to the first slider in question 1, my thought was that I can just put this in the JS editor: var value = "${e://Field/value1A}"; this.setChoiceValue(1, value); And pass it on to the next slider question. But alas, no dice. Any ideas?

I have two randimizers in the survey flow with several questions under each randomizer. Every question is under a single block ( 1 block per question). When navigating from a question under the first randomizer to a question under the second randomizer, the back button is not shown. This behavior is expected and described in warning presented on https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-options/survey-experience/#AddingABackButton . Is there any solution to avoid this? I was wondering if there is any way to use javascript to keep a reference to the previous page at any given time (maybe using embedded data). Then create a fake back button, for the page in which the first question from the second randimizer is displayed, so that when this button is clicked, it jumps back to the previous question from the first randomizer.

Need some quick help from you coders out there. I have a form on our website that is on the page using an iframe. The sizing isn't working properly on certain size phones. I was give the following code to make it respond, but it isn't working. Hello there! I noticed that if you have Stats IQ, the Cluster Analysis or other features does NOT work with Matrix questions currently. As a workaround, I layered many Multiple Choice, Single Answer questions on top of each other so that I could show a bunch of questions together. Does anyone know a way to make it so that the statement shows on the side of the question, rather than on the top? Maybe using Div Class?

Hello, I am trying to setup a gradient background color with a custom CSS for my survey but am unable to set it up. I've used the code provided in this answer (https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/1060/css-format) and was able to implement a plain color. However I wanted to set up a 3 color gradient and the custom CSS I usualy use does not work. Hello! For a project I'm working on, we need to run Java script on over 300 multiple choice questions (each of which is in a separate block). Is there a way to apply our script to multiple choice questions in bulk without copy and pasting our code into each individual question? I would like to embed my survey directly into a web page so that respondents can take the survey there and don't have to click on a link to access the survey. How can I do this?

I'd like to see some of my variables while developing my code. (Currently I export them into embedded data fields which is very slowly and doesn't work well for all variables.) In many questions here and also elsewhere command `console.log()` is mentioned. I have tried it, but I can't find the log anywhere in Qualtrics. I haven't found the answer to my question anywhere. Could anyone show me either where to find the console log or some other effective way to see values of my variables?

Hello, for my study I have the respondents rank (drag and drop) 9 soft drinks according to their preferences. Peach IT and Lemon IT are two of the previously ranked items, and in the next question I want to display the one that got the higher ranking among those two. How can I do this using Javascript? Thanks
